AutoCAD was first introduced in December 1982. Prior to AutoCAD, AutoDesk’s initial offerings included Draftsight and Drawing AutoCAD, both of which became part of AutoCAD 2. AutoCAD 1.0 was released in October 1984, and saw continued development for the next three years. During this time, the first windows-based version, AutoCAD 2.5, was released in 1987. In 1991, the first Macintosh-based version, AutoCAD 2.5, was released. The first version of AutoCAD for the Internet, AutoCAD Internet Edition, was released in October 1999. AutoCAD 2000, the first version that runs on Windows XP, was released in November 2000.

Zooming and panning: The user can zoom into the drawing or the picture window and drag the view around.
